Safe for Monsoon
We all love the monsoon after the sweltering heat. The joy is doubled if we have taken all the precautionary measures to keep our home safe from hazards. Here are some easy ways to do it. Use sealants to cover cracks around doors or windows and cement to protect basement walls. The best way is to get the roofs waterproofed before the monsoon commences, this will ensure that water does not seep in. Remove dead leaves, branches that can choke up drains; keep the terrace clean which will help prevent water logging. To deal with power cuts during monsoon, have a torch, candles and first aid kit ready.
Ensure that important documents like birth certificates, passport, driving license etc are kept safe in a waterproof box or within plastic covers.
Make sure you don't use electrical appliances while standing on wet carpets or floors. Cover telephone instruments with plastic sheets so that it is kept safe from moisture seeping in.
Turn off all equipment like air conditioner, computers etc when not in use and protect the machines from voltage fluctuations and circuit overloads.
To keep dampness at bay, place a silver foil over the damp area or use an exhaust fan which will help reduce dampness. If dampness is coming from outside the room, then call for professional help

Now that monsoon will be active in tamilnadu particularly around chennai, corporation authorties should take preventive measures to avoid flooding this time..
