Kevlar's hot in London
It's no secret that violent crimes have been plaguing London for some time. Some parents are going to Kevlar-lined
extremes to protect their children while away from home. Reportedly, orders for Kevlar-infused school uniforms and casual wear have skyrocketed of late, as school stabbings seem to be on the rise. Notably, plenty of orders are coming in from the US as well, and while deputy assistant commissioner Al Hitchcock claimed that merely "onepercent" of crimes around London involved a knife, mums and dads would seemingly rather be safe than sorry. As kids go back to school, petrified parents are taking an extraordinary step, fitting their children with stab-proof school uniforms, lined with Kevlar, the same kind of material found in flak jackets worn by American troops. They'll stop anybody bent on slashing the wearer. Casual clothes are getting the treatment too. And Internet orders have been flooding in.
Bulletproof backpacks for school children
Sending your kid off to school these days isn't what it used to be, at least that's what one company called MJ Safety Solutions would have you believe, because they're selling a bulletproof backpack. That's right, two worried parents in Boston have created 'My Child's Pack' , a $175 bulletproof bookbag that will stop an assortment of bullets (including hollowpoint 9mm) dead in their tracks. The two inventors feel this will provide a simple solution for parents hoping to protect children from school shootings and gun violence. As sensitive creator Joe Curran says, "I don't care what you do, if you want to fight the good fight or fix the world's hurts, I can't help you, but my kids are going to be safe because of these backpacks." Which might be true, if crazed shooters are only aiming at people's backs.
