The temple, erected in conformity with agama shilpa shaastras, is situated atop Oushadhagiri (Oushada - medicine, giri - hill). This ancient temple finds mention in the reputed palm leaves of rishis. It is said that this is the only Vaishnava holy place where Saint Agasthya observed penance. The presiding deity is in a standing posture with his consort on his heart.
On June 2, 1991 the kumbabishekam ceremony was performed for this temple of unknown antiquity, under the auspices of Sri Patanjali Swami of Appur Agasthya ashram.|
